Whales Write: Creative Expression and CVC Practice

Whales get lonely all by themselves, so they use clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls to communicate with friends. When that fails, they write to each other! Students will use inventive spelling to explore journal writing and responses. And we can’t let those CVC skills get rusty! Students will review and improve upon their CVC and sight-word knowledge. You know what we say—Where there’s a whale there’s a way!

Ms. Anna Bonney is a student at Southern Virginia University and a teacher at the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center in piano, voice, and ukulele. She’s traveled abroad throughout her life, studying in Italy and Africa. She began to teach Spanish in a homeschool co-op, successfully teaching young students basic sentences and common words. Anna is working to publish an interactive ukulele curriculum, geared towards children of ages as young as four years old. Anna is pursuing Child Psychology and Education at Southern Virginia University.
 
Teaching style: appointments with students, journaling, peer partner learning, research projects, spelling bees
