The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
This novel The Great Gatsby takes readers to an age of excess and frivolity in American history, an age that led to a monumental financial crisis. It was a time of moral ambiguity and a free lifestyle. Students are able to see the results of a life that has little moral direction and a life of unchecked self-indulgence. This novel also brings into focus the American Dream that Gatsby pursues throughout the story. This ideal is still a prevalent theme and a reality in America today.
