My World and Me: Introductions and the Alphabet

There are nearly 10,000 different kinds of birds—thank goodness there are only 26 letters in the alphabet! Students will learn basic words and phrases, including how to read the month and day of the week, and how to introduce themselves on paper. While interacting with English through games and penmanship, students will identify consonants and vowels and begin creating CVC words. It will be egg-citing!

Ms. Anna Bonney is a student at Southern Virginia University and a teacher at the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center in piano, voice, and ukulele. She’s traveled abroad throughout her life, studying in Italy and Africa. She began to teach Spanish in a homeschool co-op, successfully teaching young students basic sentences and common words. Anna is working to publish an interactive ukulele curriculum, geared towards children of ages as young as four years old. Anna is pursuing Child Psychology and Education at Southern Virginia University.
 
Teaching style: appointments with students, journaling, peer partner learning, research projects, spelling bees
