Mountain Gorillas Can Multiply

Mountain Gorillas Can Multiply

Mountain gorillas can get really heavy: males get up to 398 lbs (180kg) and females can weigh as much as 200 lbs (90kg). To keep track of their weight as they're growing, it's imperative that they know how to multiply.

Through in-class activities and independent practice, students will:

  • Explore the commutative property (3 x 5 = 5 x 3) and apply various strategies to solve double-digit multiplication problems
  • Find common multiples of two factors (2 - 12)
  • Identify factors of numbers to 100
  • Use partial product strategies to build arrays and solve multiplication problems using the distributive property
