Shakespeare: Love and Loss

Shakespeare: Love and Loss

As one of the greatest authors in history, Shakespeare explored the depths of the human experience. Two of his most famous tragedies are Romeo and Juliet and King Lear.  These plays tell us about families struggling between greed and cruelty, pride and mercy, and support and consolation. Throughout these stories, emotions are extreme, magnified to gigantic proportions. We see families struggle with death, misery, pain, and love.  We also see old age portrayed in all its vulnerability, pride, and, perhaps, wisdom.
