North Atlantic Right Whales Know Notations

$48.00Price

North Atlantic right whales grow up to 52 feet (15.8 m) long and weigh up to 140,000 pounds (63.5 metric tons). To help them keep track of how heavy they are without using too many zeros, they use scientific notation. Because North Atlantic Right Whales are all so heavy, they know scientific notation really well.

Through in-class activities and independent practice, students will:

  • Express very large and very small numbers using both decimal and scientific notation
  • Simplify and evaluate variable expressions involving exponents
